Wilimovsky, who represented the US at the 2016 Olympic Games in the 10k open water event and the 1500m freestyle, is already qualified to go to his second Olympics in 2021 via a 5th place finish in the 10k at the World Championships last year.

The 26-year-old qualified for his second Olympic team all the way back in mid-July of 2019 by virtue of a top-10 finish in the open water 10-kilometer swim at the FINA World Championships. By doing so, he became the first U.S. man to make the 2020 U.S. Olympic squad.

“Obviously, it’s a pretty big bummer not being able to have the Olympics this year, but all things considered, it was definitely the right decision,” he said. “There are many worse things than waiting a year, a lot more people dealing with worse stuff.”

Not many swimmers are able to do what Jordan Wilimovsky does—and that’s swim both the 1500 meter freestyle in the pool and the 10K Marathon race in open water…and be successful at both. In fact, in 2016 he became the first American ever to qualify in both pool and open water events at the same Olympics.
